Take a tour
Corwen Old Police Station warmly welcomes you to a unique and characterful building; accommodating eight it is ideal for families, couples and small groups, offering a blend of quality time and access to Welsh activities and culture.
The Grade II listed property has been lovingly renovated with our visitors in mind and retains many of its distinctive features, combining the best of traditional materials and craftsmanship with new technologies. The result oozes history, quality and comfort. Each room in the house has been individually and carefully designed taking into account its past, character and function.
From the entrance hall, pass through the original barred gate into the wide cell corridor where there is plenty of space for boots and coats as well as a dresser for additional storage. To the right, Cell One is a comfortable and intimate snug where you can chill out with books and magazines or catch up with your e-mails using the Old Police Station’s free WiFi.
Next is Cell Two, now reassigned as a fully-equipped utility room with washing machine and drying area for your wet clothes and boots.
Lastly, Cell Three has been transformed into a fully-equipped modern kitchen with range cooker, dishwasher, high quality cookware and crockery plus cleverly-designed access to the courtyard where you can indulge in a glass of wine and enjoy alfresco dining.
Previously the constable’s front parlour and back kitchen; the living and dining areas are generously sized for up to eight people with co-ordinating furnishings and fittings blending old with new. Whilst there is underfloor heating, the wood burning stove is a real treat for your winter gatherings and its cosy warmth. Complementary logs and fire-lighters are always available.
With all modern electrical appliances and free Wi-Fi, home entertainment is well catered for - Smart TV, Blu-ray Disc / DVD player and mobile phone reception are all provided as well as a selection of games if you prefer more traditional after-dinner pastimes.
Each of the four bedrooms has a super king size bed with high quality pocket sprung mattresses, fine linen sheets and top quality quilts and pillows plus lots of wardrobe and storage space. If required, the beds can be ‘unzipped’ to provide two singles to further accommodate families or groups.
In keeping with the Grade II listing, none of the four bedrooms are en-suite but we have made sure that bathing is a pleasure; upstairs in what was previously Cell Four, is a luxuriously-appointed modern bathroom ideal for soaking away the day’s exertion and just further along is a bright contemporary shower room, both of which are fully-tiled and equipped with top-of-the-range fittings. In addition, there is also a spacious shower/wet room with WC downstairs adjacent to the courtyard.
At the back of the Old Police Station is a totally enclosed and private courtyard which was formerly used for the prisoners' daily exercise. Equipped with BBQ, table, chairs and assorted garden seating, this is a unique space surrounded by walls of Welsh stone that is ideal for al fresco dining or pre-dinner drinks. There is also private parking for two cars and bike/storage facilities.
